Handmade Ceramics by Blossom Young | Mullumbimby | Australia
Deciding to bring a few quality handmade treasures into your daily use can enrich each ‘simple’ moment with joy.
Moonrise Studios is a small ceramics studio based in Mullumbimby Australia, producing beautiful ceramics for your home. Each piece is designed and handmade by Blossom Young giving the sets a warm tactile quality that people love to use and handle everyday with their morning tea or coffee ritual. The pottery produced here is highly decorative using elaborate patterns and illustrations with the classic cobalt blue and white prints. Each piece is unique and can be bought as mix and match sets. These have been very popular as gifts among friends, or for yourself when creating a beautiful new home space.

MEET THE MAKER

I’ve found that thing which keeps me always curious to know more… loving to explore and create..
I’ve been making pottery and ceramics for about 8 years now and still love it! It started in 2009 when I decided to go study at The National Art School (NAS) in Darlinghurst, Sydney. I had dreamed of going there since leaving high school, yet took a 12 year detour via other studies and a ‘professional’ career as a graphic/web designer/developer.
I enrolled at NAS imagining I would be an artist of course (aka painter!), but to my surprise I fell in love with pottery in the first semester and decided to major in ceramics for the full course. I was mostly focused on sculptural works and learning as much as I could about the seemingly endless possibilities and variables. I learned all about glaze materials, alternative firings, structural limits and creative expression through experimentation, and expert teachers.
I moved back to the Northern Rivers in 2014 and I opened Moonrise Studios soon after. I ran it as a combined art gallery and ceramic studio, showcasing local artists in all media, for a couple of years. in 2016 I closed the gallery and moved into full time pottery production with a bigger dedicated work space.
I now create mainly function ceramics keeping a keen eye on the fine line where form and function meet with balance and harmony. Tea-ware is my personal favourite thing to make and I will be concentrating more an more on those things that make the daily ritual of tea or coffee feel like a special moment.
